Singing bowls resemble brass bowls, but are composed of multiple metals such as iron - tin - mercury - lead - gold - silver and also copper. The scales, also called Singing bowls, have existed for hundreds of years and were originally forged in Tibet.
After the Tibetans were expelled from their monasteries, working with singing bowls spread quickly to Nepal, the Himalayas and India and nowadays to the Western world. The bowls were used in ceremonies, as a bowl of offerings and as a food bowl by monks and intuitively as a healing instrument. The recipe of these wonderfully sounding scales has been passed on from generation to generation over the centuries. The material for the composition of the dishes was found in the surrounding mountains. For example, if there was a large copper mine in the neighborhood, more copper was processed in the trays, which determined the sound and color of the scale.
The scales are nowadays also made in other ways and now mainly with the intention of serving as a healing scale.
